DefaultSudden Limp and Walking on TipToes

Hi There, One of our 21month english labs suddenly started limping on his left front paw tonight. Before leaving for dinner, he was fine. He was in his crate while we were gone and when I opened it upon returning home, thats when the limping started.

It appears that he is not walking on his pad, but his tiptoes as well. I checked his pad and didn't see anything such as debris but did notice that areas of his pad is red.

Has anyone ever had this happen or can have an idea of what could be the issue? I did put some Neosporin on the red area and if it isn't any better by tomorrow, will call the Vet. Just wanted to post and ask.

    Thanks in advance!!

My lab has been limping on random legs the past 6 months. He is almost 4 years old. He will limp outta nowhere then it will simply disappear. The vet is unsure what is wrong, maybe valley fever or arthritis.
However if his pad is red, he might have licked it too much from allergies or boredom or even fear (with you being gone for some reason). My dog does that during allergy season so I give him allergy medicine.

Happened to our pup. Ended up that she had an almost completely torn CCL. She had to have surgery to fix it. Good luck!
