    DefaultExcessive drinking.

    Need some thoughts please.

Calli is 18m old, and except for a few UTIs when she was a puppy, has been a healthy girl.

Within the last month and a half she has been drinking ALOT of water. I have had her urine checked, although very diluted it was ok. No sign of anything wierd.

I then had a blood panel done, again, no kidney issues, it came back just fine.

So, what does that leave me?

I did switch foods, 4mo ago. From Purina one to Diamond Naturals. Do you think this could be making her drink more than usual?

I have a diabetic dog and one of his symptoms was drinking a lot. But he was drinking everything he could access. Nearly drained the toilet bowl, was frantic when his water bowl was empty - - and needing to pee constantly.

It was very clear that he had a major problem.

I would not be concerned if her urine came back OK and she was not craving the water - just drinking more than usual.

Someone on another board started with new treats and the dog was drinking excessively. Turns out the treats had a lot of salt in them. Stop feeding them and drinking subsided.

Check the new food. Although I would think the excess drinking would have started sooner if its the food.

How terrible! No she isnt franitic.

But it is becoming a problem. A small problem. Im glad she's ok medically, but there has to be a reason.

She has had two accidents inside, both while Im not home.

I just dont want it to become a big problem, ya know?

I emailed the both companys there old food and new for the salt content in thier product.

    Either way thanks!

Start limiting her access to water when you are not home. Dogs who are crated don't get water (the majority, anyway), so she won't suffer any stress if she has to wait until you are home to drink.
