DefaultIams versus Rachael Ray dog food

    Hey
I am new here with my 2 year old lab mix that I adopted recently. The previous owners had him on Purina dog chow but I would like to switch him to something better, that is not super expensive. I am deciding between Iams for large breed or Rachael Ray Nutrish. Has anybody had any experience with either if these? Any preferences.

Neither. Not any higher quality than Purina. Im feeding Taste of the Wild and Diamond Naturals.

I have to agree with neither. Since he is already on a Purina product what about going to Purina Pro Plan? Definitely a much better quality than either you mentioned. I personally do not see any difference in quality between what he is eating now and the 2 you are considering. If they are your only options I would keep him on the current food.

If Pro Plan is out of your budget range, I'd suggest Purina ONE. It's kind of between Dog Chow and Pro Plan in quality (at least it was when I was feeding it).

My nephew bought Rachel Ray for his pit, and the dog refused to eat it. It must not taste very good. Iams has some lousy reviews as well. Some people don't use dog food reviews, but I have found this one to be good: Dry Dog Food Reviews | Dog Food Advisor

Agreed with all of the above. Neither is a good food alternative.

After some long trials with various quality foods, my boy loves Wellness grain free limited ingredient diet.

Neither. As for the other suggestions you should be aware to always check the history on any brand that anyone recommends. Diamond who makes Taste of the Wild and Diamond Naturals has a very bad, very extensive recall history. I'd stay away from a manufacturer that irresponsible. Agree with Sue's suggestions on the Purinas.

Of those two.....feed the Iams. Seriously, what does Rachel Ray, or Dick VanPatten for that matter, know about dog food? Iams has millions of dollars worth of research behind it.

I agree, of the two, go for IAMS. But I would opt for Pro Plan...an easy transition from a current Purina product. My dogs thrive on PP.

True about Diamond dog food manufacturing Taste of the Wild. Sophie was on it until the last big recall, and we switched her. All those recalls are really scary. Diamond foods factory inspections have not been good. Dirty factories, and rat feces in the dry food bins,etc...
