Hey - I feed my Lab Natural Balance. I dont know much about Del Monte foods....can we expect Natural Balance to go down hill? Does Del monte has a history of food problems?

    Most likely.

The problem isn't so much Del Monte having a history of food problems, it's that Del Monte isn't a dog/pet food company. In the past, other foods that used to be considered very good/premium years ago have been cheapened when the companies were bought out by "non industry" companies.

Profit becomes the #1 objective when any premium name is purchased. "How can we produce the (sort of) same product for less money and sell it for the same?" Hmmmm well we can source products from cheaper distributors (ie overseas) we can out-source production (to the cheapest bidder).

A good example would be Innova. They were bought by P&G and within 2 years have had their formula changed and now a recall of basically every product.

So true. Same thing happened when P&G bought Iams about 20 years ago. Natural Balance was already out sourced for production to Diamond.
