DefaultSkinned himself good today. Good thoughts for Si...and our wallets

Well, Si nearly skinned himself today. He was over at the neighbors running around and jumped over these ancient hose holder things he has in his garden for decoration and literally skinned himself from his chest down to about his knee on the right side. It was so clean there really wasn't any bleeding...just a hugh flap of skin and fur hanging down and flesh showing. He acted like absolutely nothing happened. He is currently at the closest 24 hour emergency vet which is 30 minutes away getting treated. My husband called and said it was an hour and a half wait to be seen and going to cost us $600 (on the lower end) to get stitched up. This is absolutely the last thing we needed right now. I'm sure Si is thinking the same thing...he is just trying to be a puppy. So, please good thoughts for the little guy. He'll be going under for the stitches and I'm worried because he is so young that something is going to go wrong.

Oh no, poor guy. You might want to invest in a donut collar.

They actually provided us with a collar (for a cost of course). It came to just over $400 to get him all stitched up and bring him home with meds. My husband is picking him up right now but he is doing well. I'm sure he is in a lot of pain and we're going to have to make sure he doesn't get all puppy crazy and rip it open again. I guess there was also a puncture wound above the skinning part. The vet said it is really common for puppies to try and jump over things and not make it...Si just picked the wrong thing to jump over. Thank you guys for the kind thoughts/words.

Oh my, poor little guy! How is he doing today? He's not going to be hurting too much and it's going to be hard to keep him quiet until he heals.
