I really think there is more to this than they are letting on. I believe my 10 year old lab Joey died Feb 4th after consuming the hartz oinkies originals ( not the ones in the recall) He was perfectly healthy and this was the only thing in his diet that was out of the ordinary. He ate them on a Tuesday January 29th ( I bought them the morning of the 28th). On January 30th he was vomiting so I took him to the vet. They put him on baytril and he went home on February 1st. On the 2nd and 3rd he seemed to be getting better. On the evening of the 4th he took a turn for the worst. His breathing was rapid and he seemed very uncomfortable. I called the vet and told me to bring him in in the morning. At approximately 8:30 Monday evening Feb 4th he passed away. I can't say for sure that the oinkies killed him but everything points to it. Please make sure that the treats you are buying for your pets are not made in china. These oinkies were, I never knew there was a problem until I started researching this. My heart is broken when I think that I might have killed Joey, he was the greatest dog and companion anyone could ask for. I am angry that we allow this crap to come into this country. Never, never buy dog treats from China. I honestly don't think I can ever buy anything made in China again.
