Default1 & 3/4 old Lab stopped eating all his food at once

Hello everybody, my first post on this forum and will surely not be my last.

Here is my almost 2 year old black lab Coleman:

He is 28 inches tall and 85 lbs, he is a mix but we are not sure what with exactly but he is tall and slender.

    Anyway!

We switched his food over maybe 2 weeks ago to this food that contains "lamb" as it's first ingredient, and actually smells pretty terrible but contains lamb as the first ingredient instead of the wheat meal stuff, before this we used Pedigree Large Breed (with the big kibble).

Recently (past 3-4 days) I noticed when I put the food in his bowl which is (2 and 1/2 cups twice a day) he still goes over and eats immediately but takes a mouthful and while eating he has been walking around a bit and looking around..

Now he has even been leaving some food in the bowl still (maybe 3/4 cup left) for about 10-15 minutes then goes back to it and finishes it.

This may not sound odd to some but he usually makes it a priority to finish all his food as fast as possible and then want more.

What can be going on here? Maybe I should switch back to Pedigree?

    Thanks for all your help!

What food did you switch to? Could be a bad bag. Shouldn't smell all THAT bad.

That's a decent food. I'd give it a litte time before making another change. Pedigree is low quality food and may contain some flavorings that he could be missing. Sort of like if you fed a child a steady diet of Twinkies, he might not be so happy when presented with healthier food choices.

Try a little warm water to enhance the smell. Even a spoon of plain yogurt or cottage cheese. You could do the Chick/Rice one as well as I bet the Pedigree had some chicken in it. Just to keep the proteins similar.

I agree, he's probably missing the Pedigree like a chocolate-junkie misses his daily candy bar. Mostly sugar and crap in that food. Best to be off it.
