Default7 Month Old Lab- What is a good bone to feed her?

    Hi,

I have a seven month old lab and she loves to chew on bones. I was told she was to young for bones and to give her bully sticks. However, she goes through bully sticks in an hour now and swallows 4 inches of the stick whole. Now my vet is telling me not to feed her bully sticks anymore. I don't know what to feed her! I have heard from a bunch of people to not give dogs bones because they shard and can hurt dogs stomachs. I don't know what is a safe chew stick or bone to feed my dog! Any ideas? Something that she won't go through in an hour or I have to be worried about hurting her stomach or teeth.....

Have to watch the bully sticks. Some are from china and have chemicals in them. I don't give them anymore as my two were also swallowing 4-6 inch pieces.

My pups are 8 months and they LOVE deer antlers. They have had the same two for about 2 months now. No chance of swallowing and they last a long, long time.

Nylabones are also good, although my dogs won't touch them.

I also have given them femur bones...also last a long time.

A 7 month old could chew a raw knuckle bone for select periods. I usually leave mine with their bones for 25-35 minutes and then take them back and put them back in the freezer.

My vet recommends raw beef shank bones. I get them frozen from a local butcher. Layla loves to chew and has yet to chew one of her bones to what I would call a dangerously small size. I do cycle the smallest bones out of her bone box as I give her new ones though. I don't limit her access to bones. She can chew on them when she wants too.

Layla love bully sticks, but for me they are just to expensive to use regularly.

We rotate out nylabones and cow leg bones from a butcher shop.

Some call them marrow bones as well.

Are bully sticks bad? I just started giving my 5 mo choc lab these and she loves them
Also, do your dogs keep on eating the antlers, or r they done within the first 5 mins? I've been buying food from I think a great place, it's Natural Balance Synergy. Plz suggest if there is a better food. I work at a pet resort, so she gets to play all day w me. It's pretty cool!!

I use raw beef shanks. They last for like 2 hours, and I give them when I need to get something done and want to occupy the dogs.

I don't give my dogs bully sticks or anything made in China. My two do really well with compressed rawhides - they can't rip off giant pieces as easily and they last longer. These are only given under supervision for a few minutes at a time.

I also give raw turkey necks and beef knuckles. I can't give my dogs Nylabones or marrow bones as they are too hard - Abbey has broken two molars on them.
