Hi all! We just brought home our beautiful yellow lab, Sal. We adopted him from a friend, who gave us the name of the vet Sal had gone to. I called today to make sure he was up to date on all of his shots and ended up speaking with an incredibly rude, and obnoxious woman. She ended up faxing me his vaccine record and now I don't understand all of the acronyms.
DHLP-PV (I get this one)
Fecline, HW/neg x2 N/B (I don't get this)
RB 1 year(i'm assuming rabies)
and PE-well it also says (i think) has hw/flea
please help me decipher all of this!

Sometimes the hardest part isn't letting go - but learning to start over.
I would just find a vet to use and bring the record with you. It's always a good idea to get a baseline exam on a dog you adopt even if he does not need a vaccine right now. And - I would do the heartworm test anyway - you can't know if your friend really kept up with the monthly meds and in most areas you still need to be treating into the winter. Better to be safe than sorry.

Fecline,HW/neg x2 N/B-
Fecline, I think is a fecal test for internal parasites
HW/neg is negative for heartworm infestation
x2 N/B- well, x2 is twice, times 2, etc. N/B could be the type of test used. I'm reading that as the test used tested for two things (assuming one was heartworm0 For example, Caleb had a Snap4DX test done- it tested for 4 things" anaplasmosus, Lyme, heartworm and erlichia.
RB 1 year-
Rabies vacs that needs to be repeated in 1 year
well it also says (i think) has hw/flea-
probably means he's on heartworm and flea preventative.
I second the suggestion to take the records you have with on your first vet visit.
