DefaultI'm so frustrated! don't know what to do!

I'm so frustrated with Cassie on brushing her teeth. She won't let me brush her teeth. She only licks the toothpaste. If brush her teeth with my finger she's ok with it. But if I get the toothbrush she doesn't let me touch her mouth.

Vet told me to brush her teeth because that white and yellow thing started to form on her teeth. He already cleaned one tooth which was yellow.

I'm also giving her the Pro Plan dental bars. But still is not enough. She let's me touch her mouth and her teeth with my bare fingers but when I get the finger toothbrush or the long one she won't let me touch her. What can I do to let me brush her teeth??

I've tried to order the EasyBrush but they don't ship to Cyprus.

I've only brushed my dog's teeth once and she is 10.5 years old and no problems.

Take a gauze pad and wrap it around your finger, then brush. This is what I do with Diesel as he snaps toothbrushes in half if I actually manage to dodge his tongue and hold his head still enough. The gauze is abrasive enough to act like a toothbrush, but not abrasive that it harms the tooth enamel.

BTW - I don't bother with toothpaste, I just worry about getting the crap off his teeth and massaging his gums.

Another BTW and this is just me, but I don't bother with these denta-stix bones or whatever else they sell that claims to brush the dog's teeth. I think it's a bunch of horse pucky, but again that is JMO.

Erns is 10.5 with good teeth and I have never brushed them. His previous owners didn't handle him so it took years for me to even look in his ears or touch his paws.

ETA. I am not sure I would push it if she hates it that much. Leave it and try again or she may build up a fear.
Reason I say this is because Ernies family did things like flea him or cut his claws as it was good for him and ended up with 3 holding him down. To this day he will panics if he sees or smells flea treatment, or claw cutters. A few nights ago I noticed his dew claws were too long. I wore him out as best I could and waited until he was in a deep sleep before sneaking in with the cutters. Got one done and the look he gave me no way would I go in for a second one. Did the same next night.

I hope you are using toothpaste intended for dogs - human toothpaste is not at all appropriate.

Just the plain gauze is the best choice if you want to brush her teeth.

How about dental wipes? That would do! Right?

Of course I'm using dogs toothpaste.

I found these Dental Wipes which contain grape seed extract, rosemary, lavender and parsley.
I know grapes are toxic for dogs but is grape seed extract safe?

Instead of they Raw hides we get him Pig ears to chew on now, some also say that feeding dry food helps prevent gum problems, up to you if you believe that. frozen carrots once in a while, Sticks can help but that can lead to bits getting stuck in the throat. Teddy bear toys can also help.

I think its a combination of all these different things that help keep the Boys teeth clean and fresh but not the minty bit...
