    Defaultchange food when season change?

I've been told today that it's good to change the kind of food when the season change. To stay on the same brand but change the ingredients so the dog can take the necessary ingredients for the season.

For example summer time to have chicken with rice and winter salmon and what ever.

Is that true? And if it is what kind of food shall I feed in summer and what kind in winter?

    Thank you.

If dogs do not go to heaven, then I prefer to follow them where they go.

I keep the same food. In summer though they only eat a little if they are too hot. During winter/fall they eat it much faster.

i have never ever heard this before. (after many years on dog boards amd meeting tons of dog owners!)

i would ask them why a dog needs fish in the winter vs chicken? or why chicken in the summer vs fish?

stick to one food that works. or when your pup has matured you can look into rotating foods (feeding 2-3 different foods in a rotation)

I've never heard of changing food due to climate, other than in winter they typically get less exercise due to the freezing cold temps so I know some people cut back on the kibble & add green beans for a calorie wise filler, but they use the same kibble.

The only reason to alternate kibble would be to get different proteins/nutrients into their diet, but this can be done 365 days a year, it isn't dependant on season per se. There are a few JLers that have their dogs on a rotation daily. (ETA: as Tanya says, wait til she is matured)

Interesting thought, where did you hear it?

While generally true this makes me chuckle. Rocky and I are more active in the winter as neither of us are fans of the heat We are minimally active in the heat we've had lately LOL. So he'll normally gain weight in the summer (if I am not careful)

Bauer is the same. I love the summer heat, but he becomes a couch potato!
