Defaultlifting her leg up - is this a problem?

I have noticed that Cassie sometimes is raising her rear left leg up and has difficulties putting it down again. She tries to step it down but she's lifting it up again. She does this while she's walking normally and sometimes when she runs in the yard.

On our visit to the vet today I have mentioned this to him and he touched her leg on different spots but he didn't find anything. He told many reasons for this to happen and one of them is because she's growing. He also asked me if she does this only with the left leg or both with the right one as well. I think it's only the left but a few minutes ago she did it with the right leg too. Vet told me to have some x-ray to see if it shows something else.

Does anyone knows anything about this? Is it a health problem or is it because she's growing?

I would say probably some growing pains - if it continues or becomes more frequent (or she refuses to put any weight on it) you should get it further examined.

I would just watch her, and if it gets worse have it checked again. They grow so fast that they get aches and pains sometimes.

Have the x-ray done, if there are any major problems it should pick them up, as the other posts have said, it's probably growing pains so just take it easy with her and try not to worry (i know easer said than done).

I took Cassie at the vet this morning. She's there now for the x-rays on her legs. Last night she raised her front leg so the cause might be the growing. Anyway we will have the x-rays to make sure of the cause. I would be worried more if we don't have the x-rays.

Thank you BigBrownDog, that is very helpful information and plenty of good things to have in mind.

I took Cassie from the vet earlier but he couldn't talk to me at that time because he was taken a small dog that got hit by a car and he was trying to save his life. All he could tell me is that Cassie's x-rays were perfectly OK. I will go tomorrow for a full report and get the x-rays.

So I'm guessing it's probably PANO.

Boy did I missed her today.. I took her to the vet at 08:30'am and then went to work. I was thinking of her all the time.. I'm glad that she's ok.
