DefaultKibble advice please, breeder was using Diamond.

So the breeder for our CJ used Diamond Naturals puppy food, large breed. I bought a bag of it, checked to make sure it wasn't on the recall, but still am not feeling terribly comfortable with this brand. I have checked rating sites and now am just more confused. Vet tried to get him on science diet, no thanks!
So what do/did you feed your puppy and why?

I was using taste of the wild and switched to earthborn. It's very similar and I think produces less waste. My dogs love it and they look great. Not sure if it's available to you or not?

I feed mine Pro Plan Selects Chicken & Brown Rice. The reason is...they do well on it. Shiny coat, clean ears, good stools. It works for my two.

I feed Wellness CORE but it's not appropriate for a puppy.

I was feeding TOTW too, and with the recall got nervous about feeding it, so I looked and looked for a good grain free kibble. I finally settled on California Naturals. It comes in both grain free and grain formulas. Sophie likes it. We are on the second bag now and so far all is good...

My Mya was very sensitive as a puppy. I tried multiple foods that left her with loose stools until I landed on IAMs 1+ years. That was before I saw Laura/labby's recommendation for Pro Plan Selects Chicken and Brown Rice - like georgie. If I had it to do over again, I would try PPS. Good Luck to you.

CJ is only 9 1/2 weeks. Looking at the PPS, they don't have a large breed puppy formula. Did you all use large breed puppy formulas? He has had some loose stools, but the vet ran the tests on them and they came back negative. He chalked it up to either the pigs ear he had or the change from breeder to our home. I did some chicken and rice but as soon as the kibble came back at all they got looser again.

Labs don't need a large breed formula. Regular PPS puppy is fine. I also would not feed a small puppy a pigs ear or a rawhide. My adult dogs don't get them either. There is blockage hazard potential with those kinds of items and they are just basically crap. Like feeding a human baby a donut.

My first lab I fed large breed puppy formula and it totally screwed her up. Sharon is right....they don't need LBPF, my vet even confirmed that.
I also will not give Mya raw hide. I give her huge raw meaty bones.

Most rawhides are from China. Be sure to read labels for any treat you get. Give nothing from China!!! Rawhides can choke a puppy as well as being just junk food.
