Bella loves to eat the leaves in our backyard. She enjoys bunny droppings too, I know gross, but I figure it can't be that bad since it's just grass. But Bella is like a cow grazing in the field. So my question is this okay for her? I watch and tell her the drop and leave it command for sticks, rocks and everything else, but she is like over the moon for the leaf and grass diet.

Many, many Labs graze on grass so much you'd think they have Jersey cow blood in them. Eating grass is nothing to be concerned about. Leaves, rocks, sticks, etc., aren't good for them.

Bob is right. They have cow blood in the. I think the Lab originated as a cross between a doodle and a cow.<g> HK loves the grass. Tall grass with morning dew on it s best.

Uh-oh, so I better get ready to milk her then! LOL So Bob leaves are bad then? I understand about the sticks splintering, and the rocks tearing up her throat or tummy, but why are leaves bad? These are large maple leaves.

I suppose maple leaves could be okay but some leaves might be toxic.

Limo went thru that stage of eating EVERYTHING or at least trying to...until I stepped in. He's getting a little better, but will occasionally put a rock in his mouth and I tell him OUT! and take it from him.

Bella does pretty good with drop it, leave it, but like I mentioned the leaves were everywhere. But they are gone now (thanks honey:-) and tomorrow we are expecting our first snow of the season, so no more worries here about leaves, that is until next year.

Moka and Java both love to graze in the fields at our house. Moka enjoys eating leaves more than Java. I used to try to stop it, but it's a useless exercise to get them to stop eating grass.
Just don't let them eat deer poop!! Java has had 2 parasitic infections from eating deer poop!! Unfortunately, we live in the middle of nowhere on a few acres....deer poop is everywhere!!

No deer poop here, just a whole lot of bunny droppings. I think Bella thinks they are in the puppy food pyramid.
