I am thinking about getting a Golden Retriever from a reputable breeder in my area. I would like to know about all the health issues and sicknesses that my dog could from puppy age to adulthood so I can quiz the breeder I am thinking about getting my puppy through. Also, I would like to know all the preferred shots my puppy should have and what age it will need them. Thank you so much for any information in advance!
Most are prone to allergies of some kind. Goldens are wonderful forever loving and loyal companions Our sweetie passed away a month shy of turning 11. I still miss her.
You may get more answers from a golden retriver board but why not take a look at the golden retriever club of america. As far as I know they are as prone to hips and elbow and heart issues as labs so those three for sure. Allergies yes but not sure how you test for that. Some goldens also have nasty temperments so definately look at a breeder aiming for temperment.

For shots, those will also be relative to what the issues are in your specific area.
Charlie (foster) and Rocky
Mostly the same as Labs. Hips, elbows, eye disorders (PRA) and heart (SAS). Goldens have horrendous cancer issues. It's become a major problem in their breed. I have a friend who has always had Goldens and will not own another one due to the cancer issues.
