    Defaulteating his own poop...yuckw

We think Remi is eating his own poop. I have never had a dog that ate his own before. What can I do about this? It is so gross.

I know some people use the muzzle. You can also pick it up right after he poops so he doesn't have the chance to eat it.

Have you tried a firm "leave it"? Diesel ate his poop twice, leave it works for us. Plus I don't just put him out in the yard alone, he is always supervised because he won't play by himself & when he's alone outside he gets into trouble.

I also pick up every time he poops, I know some people just pick up weekly or whatever (in their own yard), but personally I think that is gross so it gets picked up as soon as it hits the ground.

I also pick it up as soon as it hits the ground, and my
poop eater is never allowed outside unattended !
Leave it does work if she is farther away, most of the time !

Clean it right away. That's all you can do.

Picking it up immediately will prevent it becoming a habit or break the habit of a dog that has been a poop eater. You need to be consistant for a good month.

Unfortunately it's a bad habit and once they start, they rarely stop. As the others have said, you need to pick it up immediately.

I pick it up everytime it hits the ground. She was rushing to eat it as soon as she finishes but the last few days she lost interest. She doesn't rush eating it.

sometimes when she is sniffing around during walks she grabs other dogs poops and eats it! That is gross!

Yep we have a couple that love their soft serve here too. All you can do is try to clean it up before they can. We have tried everything they have on the market and then some still hasn't stopped the poo eaters here. The leave it command does work but sometimes they know I need to grab a jacket or put my shoes on they will ignore me yelling out the window/door and munch away.
