    Defaultcutting nails for first time

    Hi all,

It's time to cut her nails. Not the four above the paws, those are ok because I walk her a lot. We need to cut the single ones higher on the leg.

I'll take her to the vet to cut them because I've never done before and I want him to show me. I will buy a nail cutter and I need you to tell me if all are the same or do I have to buy a specific one that is better than the others. Do you recommend any or what ever I take I'll be fine.

    Thhanx.

you should be trimming them weekly.

This is the kind of clippers I use.

You may want to have some styptic powder on hand just in case you cut the quick... it bleeds like crazy!

Yes, its probably been time to trim for some time.

I clip at least once a week and we walk at least 2 miles per day.

I use the gulitine type clippers if the nails are too long, and then use the Dremel. Get your pup used to her feet being handled, pinched, rubbed etc., not just the dew claws.

How are you using the Dremel? To sand the claws after clipping? How on earth can you get a power tool that close to the dog? I can't imagine one holding still for that.
