    DefaultRed rash on belly

    Hi.
Haven't been on here in a while. Started back to work and it's really cut in to my web surfing! LOL

SOOooooo........Coco has a red rash on her belly.
Kind of red splotchy rash with what looks like pimples.

    No change in diet.

Went to vet, she's been on antihistamine and a antibotic that started with an "M" and now I can't remember the name of, for 10 days.
Rash a little better, but still there. It was on her ear flaps too, but that did clear up. Just on her belly now.

Today the vet did a culture, and we will see if anything grows and if it turns out to be bacterial, or if it is just an allergy to something.
She's now still on antihistamine and today the vet started her on Baytril.
Hopefully by friday we will know if it's bacterial or not.

My concern is that it's Staph. Particularly MRSA.
My daughter and I both have had MRSA over the last year, she picked it up in college, and thanks to some heavy duty antibiotics, I THINK we have final gotten rid of it.
I know it's communicable to dogs, so I am concerned that Coco now has it. We will see what the culture results are.

So I typed all that to ask this, Anyone have any experience with a rash like I have described?
Any ideas what it might be?

Here's my favorite picture of her. She's now 1 year old and 68 lbs of chocolaty rotteness!
It's a tough life.....but someone has to do it.

Kate had a red rash on her belly, it turned out to be staph. It cleared up with antibiotics. She was on Cephalaxin. Good thoughts the rash clears up soon. She is a beautiful girl.

Sophie had a bumpy red rash on her belly and inner thighs. Her hair came out on her inner thighs too. She had the red rash under the ear flaps. It was allergy. The vet had us chose a grain free food with a protein she had not had before. We chose the TOTW Pacific Stream, since she had never had salmon. Within a week she was already getting better. Now her hair grew back, she no longer itches, no ear infections and her coat is beautiful. Not saying it is allergies your dog has, but going grain free is worth a try.

Here's our results: coagulation negative staph

Vet says she doesn't think it's related to the MRSA my daughter and I had to deal with because the Baytril that Coco is on, is finally starting to help clear it up.
She's going back to vet in a week or so for a follow up.
I hope this takes care of this for good.

My daughter picked it up at college. She had a filthy suite mate one year.
I got it from my daughter.
Bless her heart, my daughter had it FOUR times on her face!
I had it twice under my arm.

We were both on HEAVY antibotics for a full month, and thank God no one else in the house got it, and I think we finally got rid of it.
Tough to get rid of, and we are EXPERTS on cleaning every surface!
