after many years of medication for arthritis my wonderfull 12 year old choccy lab willow has started with kidney failure...at this moment she is in the vets on a drip awaiting the results of her blood test in the morning to see if there is enough improvment for her to come home. she is on a prescription diet of purina nf and im sure that after this vet visit there will be many a more tablet that she will have to take..and as long as she is not suffering i was just wondering if there was any advice anyone could give as this is the first time ive had a dog with this condition....as any dog owner i love her to bits shes not just a dog shes my best friend and i want to do ANYTHING to make however long i have left with her the best that i can do.
Prayers for your fur friend.
No advice here, just best wishes for Willow
Got her home now....kidneys have improved...not perfect but at least she's home..only thing is she's turning her nose up at the prescription diet now so just hope I can find something to tempt her to eat !!! Thanks for asking how she is...just got to keep a close eye on her now !!! But I'm one very happy Labrador owner at the minute !!:0)
Glad she's home ! Get well soon girlie !
All paws crossed for Willow at my home. Good luck...
Poor Willow! I sure hope she gets better! It is so hard to watch our babies be sick, we feel so helpless.

I am glad she is home. Good thoughts for Willow.
I am sorry to hear this but glad kidney levels have improved. It is very common for a dog with KF to go off food and you have to try different things to get them to eat.
I have been thru this but did not need IV fluids.
Here is info on what I did for my girl.

you will note I fed eggs in the kibble. I would fry a few eggs and store them in the fridge. She loved the runny yolk in her kibble.
Good luck with your baby. I pray she handles the KF as well as my Abbey did.
