My puppy is 9weeks 3days old. How many vaccinations are needed? So far she has
5wks 5 in 1
7wks 5 in 1
9wks 5 in 1 and bordetella (sp?)
the vet said return in 2 wks for Rabies and tha she still needs 1 more distemper? wow that seems like alot of vaccines. If she needs them then I will take her but is that normal?

UH, no. You're over vaccinating.
usually first shots around 6-7 weeks, then another two series, each 3-4 weeks apart. Then rabies SEPARATE, but not before 16 weeks. Thats the law here.
Don't let them give that baby a rabies before 16 weeks.

Because that first one was done too young at 5 weeks, you'll need one more 5 in 1 at 12-13 weeks. Then rabies after 16 weeks, but I would count it out...4 weeks after the last 5 in 1.
What you had is typical for "old school" vaccinations. Now folks know better (or better breeders know better) and the first is done 7-8 weeks, then every 3-4 weeks, so you only need 3 5 in 1's.
I thought it sounded like a lot of vaccinations. Her breeder gave her the first at 5 weeks and the vet has given her the last 2. She wants me back in 2 weeks for her rabies she said at 3 months old? I think I will wait till 4 months old. I will look up the law her in AZ about when they need to get their rabies vaccine. I think I'm going to start looking for a new Vet.
And unless you are boarding and are required to get the fairly useless bordatella shot, I'd skip that one totally. It does not cover all strains of bordatella and thus is not particularly effective.

Too late..the vet gave her the bordetella yesterday too. Drops in her nose. Thanks for the info. I'm glad I can get info. from experienced Lab owners.
