    DefaultTorn Pad?

Any idea how long I should baby my girl from a torn pad? She got a cut on her pad when we went for a bike ride on Friday. She limped Sat & Sunday was better but I don't want her to bust it open again. However, her energy level is getting the best of me today! I'm just worried cause we live in an area with lots of gravel & pavement, and hate to see her feeling uncomfortable.

Depends on how badly it is torn. Is the pad ripped away, split and deep, or just scuffed off?

It takes a few days if it's just got the skin scuffed off. A split or deeper cut will take longer. If the pad is ripped, you might need the vet to cut away the "flap" so it will heal quicker.

if it's bad i'd bandage her paw and put a sock over it so she cannot lick it ... it'll also give her some padding.

I agree with Sarah, I would wrap it up with that...stretchy stuff - what the heck is it called (?) and put a sock over it.

It was more of a scuff off on the corner, she didnt seem to lick at it much. And shes galloping around the backyard today like there is no problem at all. I was gona put some Neosporin on it yesterday just in case... but since she regards that stuff like candy... figured it would do more harm than good. Our walk was fine last night, I kept checking her paw to make sure tho. Im such a nervous mom. Thanks for the tips guys, Im glad its not coming to the point where I have to put socks on her... I think that would be quite the fight to keep her from bothering it.
