hi i have a 7yr chocolate lab and recently his legs have started clicking when he has been resting for a while and he also finds it difficult to get up
also recently he has started to limp
none of this is bothering him he is still full of energy and wants to play constantly and go for walks
i was just wondering if anyone can suggest anything i can do to help him i have put him on jointcare i was also thinking about fish oils and other oils for joints problems
More than likely it's arthritis. I click too when I get up from a sitting position. I would start on Glucosamine/Chondritin. You can go to any pharmacy and buy the human stuff which is usually cheaper than the canine. If you're a member of Sams Club or Costco you can buy their brands. Move Free is another brand you can use. One twice a day is the usual dosage, but check the bottle.

It's most likely just arthritis and G/C and fish oils can help. Personally, I'm inclined to get any older dog who develops a new limp checked by a vet to ensure it's just arthritis and not something that needs more aggressive treatment (ligament damage, meniscal tear (those "click" audibly), or heaven forbid osteosarcoma).
Only after the last tree has been cut down, only after the last river has been poisoned, only after the last fish has been caught, only then will you find that money cannot be eaten. - Cree prophecy
I agree with the others. I would also have a regular excersise plan every day to keep the joints moving. Swimming is the best for joints and has made a huge difference to Ernie.
