DefaultIs my 5 1/2 month old going into Heat?

I have puppy kindergarten tomorrow and not sure if my dog is in heat. Yesterday I notice a bloody discharge just 2 drips from her vagina. It disappeared and today she is really lethargic and doesn't want to be touch. She hid underneath the kitchen table most of the day.

Tonight she is back to normal and playing. I have class tomorrow night and not sure what I should do. She is five and half months old.

    Any suggestions. Thanks a bunch!

yes it sounds like she is in heat. Check for swelling of the vulva too. Call the trainer and find out if she is allowed in class while in heat. If so and you decide to go be sure other people with males are aware of her heat and stay away from her.

If you are not comfortable with males in the class than keep her out of class until her cycle is finished.

Just to add that she'll have to wear "pants" if she is allowed in class, so if you don't have a pair you'll need some.

Wipe her vulva with a white tissue. Bloody discharge, then yes she's in season.

Thanks folks for the suggestion. Her vulva isn't swollen and no traces of blood just that one time. I going to the vet on Saturday to see what is going on. She has been normal the last few days except for the excessive barking but that seems to normal now that she is six months old. lol

If pressing a tissue to her vulva reveals nothing (not event pinl) It could have been blood from her urinary tract and that would indicate a UTI. Take a sample to the vet to be sure. Collect first thing in a.m. prior to food or water and in midstream
