DefaultWhat is the problem with Pro Plan Shreds

While away for Christmas we ran short of our puppy pro plan and went to buy a small bag. we were leaving Virginia, stopping for the night in Philadelphis and then on home to Boston area. The store I went to only had the "shreds" so I bought that thinking it was the closest choice to what we have been feeding. While on the road I was reading the forum and saw a posting not to feed the shreds. Luckily when we stopped for the night we saw a Pet Smart and I was able to get the right variety of puppy pro plan and so I have donated the un-opened bag to the shelter.

But I would like to know what the problem is with it. Thanks.

Not an expert but as I understand it the shreds contain soy and soy mimics estrogen. So - a steady diet of this could potentially affect development.

This. Plus many dogs can't handle soy and can have sensitivities to it.

Good to know. I hope the shelter dogs will not have a problem but it is only one small bag. I think the dog food companies are all vying for too much shelf space by putting out all these options and making people think they are doing poorly by their pets if they don't feed the exact right food. My pup has a sensitive stomach but is stable and happy and growing quickly on puppy pro plan -minus the shreds.
