    DefaultTucker might have Cushings

    I have to drop off a urine sample this week, but he's got several of the symptoms.
    a bucket-full of symptoms that can mimic other diseases. Increased appetite, increased drinking and urination, panting, high blood pressure, bulging abdomen, skin lumps and discoloring, hair loss, muscle weakness, and nervous system disorders can occur with the disease.
    Does anyone have experience with this? It's not life-threatening, right?

    This is a really good web site that has articles that explain Cushing's correctly:
    * Cushing's Disease (Hyperadrenocorticism) - VeterinaryPartner.com - a VIN company!

    There is a menu on the right that has 8 links to different articles on Cushing's.

    Before you get too worried I would wait for test results. Those symptoms can be caused by lots of things (old age, arthritis, hypothyroidism, allergies, etc.). I'm assuming his ALP was high on his bloodwork?

    Amy, my guy has very similar symptoms and the bloodwork came back with a thyroid problem, was an easy fix. I hope it turns out well for you and Tucker.

    But he had the super chem blood profile done already, which make him suspect this.

    Andy, Lab dad dealt with this with one of his labs. You could contact him for more information.

    prayers for tucker.

    i spent a ton of bucks on dutch this past spring because all his tests said he had cushings. the internal medicine specialist (yes we saw one of those) thinks he throws false positives because he is a neurotic, stressed out dog.

    ultrasound was clean, he does not have the extended abdomen and doesn't "lose" hair, but he doesn't grow hair either.

    all his urine tests scream cushings. there are two types of cushings. there is a forum that is very helpful; if it comes to that, let me know and I will send you the info.
