    Defaultincontinence

Mitzi will be 11 in two months. Last night she wet her bed. My Brother's 12 year old shepherd was cured with phenylpropanol amine, and I suppose I should try it on Mitzi, but was wondering if it may be from a sedentary life style the last 3 weeks. I normally take them on a 30 min exercise walk which Mitzi loves. Three weeks ago, I broke a bone in the foot and have not been able to walk them. Has anyone heard of a connection between incontinence and lack of exercise? I'm thinking of trying to exercise her to see if it helps before putting her on daily meds.

I haven't heard of that but with Tootsie - she will be 11 in October if she has too much excitement she will sleep sound right through and have an accident. Or at least that is what we think happened last month when we had out of town guests.

Back in Aug of 09 Tootsie was having sleep accidents, I took her to the vet and she wanted to put her on proin 50. I didn't like the side effects pacing and panting so I sent the bottle onto our rescue. Our Tootsie has LP she is supposed to remain calm and stress free to help with her breathing. Anyway I had Bailey on cranberry pills for his UTI so I put Tootsie on them too. She hasn't had an accident since until the weekend we had house guests, just the first day she has been dry since.

Tootsie and Sarah take 425mg once a day, Sarah has a little bit of an inverted pee pee bug, we went through 2 UTI's with her once when she first came to us at 8 weeks and again after she was over a year she hasn't had any problems since. Just a thought I don't like alot of meds and if I can get by with something more natural for my kids I try it. Hope you figure out something for your little girl.

Have you had her checked for an UTI?

That's what the vet suggested. I went to take a first pee sample yesterday when we woke up and it was still dark. I use a ladle to collest a sample because she really squats low. I just woke up and it was dark - I put the ladle under her up side down. Will try again tomorrow.

I use a paper plate. It slides right under them even if they squat low, then just transfer the urine into a cup. Good luck and I hope it's just a UTI.

Or use a tupperware lid. Hoping its just a UTI. If it is incontinence some people get results with soy milk - to stay away from Proin and the like.

The picture drawn from the words for collecting urine is comical. But not as comical as when I had to do it with HK. I am glad we are early risers and the whole neighborhood didn't get to watch the shows.

I'm having a lot of trouble with incontinence with Rhys right now, with him though, I don't know if its the cancer or him just being an a-hole. So, tomorrow he's going to the vet. Urine sample was clear as of Friday.

Her urine sample was OK. I will wait until it becomes a regular problem before trying phenylpropanolamine. Maybe try the cranberry pills first.

With emma we tried some soy based treats, cranberry pills/chews and then had to give in and use Propalin chewables. I hope hope hope it's just a UTI and something simple to resolve.
