    DefaultDog Food

I feed Parker and Linus purina One food but am thinking of changing it to regular dog chow or kibbles and bits. Is the One food better nutritionally. Also since they're older do I still have to change it over slow. Thanks.

Sorry, but kibble and bits is junk. It's full of sugars which does nothing for your dog. IMO the Purina ONE is a better food than the Dog Chow, but I know people who feed DC and like what they see. Yes, you still have to switch slow.

Of the three you list Purina One is the best food
my general rule is if it's working for me and them - why switch?

depends ont he dog how fast they can tolerate (if they can tolerate) a switch over

If those are your only choices - stick with the ONE.

I would not switch your dog I agree kibble is bad food it is full of sugar when I first got my puppy from the breeder they had her on that and she was so blotted that people thought she had worms. I switched her to Eukaduba and she has been great she loves it. If you do decide to still switch yes you do want to switch it slowly cause if not you pet could have bad reaction. So good luck with what ever you decide.

    Thank You

For those that are interested there are several sites which rate dog foods. They are quite instructional.

Google - dog food project, dog food analysis, dog food reviews. Some have more of an agenda than others.

I consider myself very much an amateur at this still, but while trying to decide what to feed a yellow lab pup we're picking up this week, I also decided to switch my approximately 10-year-old, very big Golden from Iams Weight Control to EVO Reduced Fat. Based on some of those sites mentioned above, EVO seems to be one of the best foods out there, but be forewarned that it is priced as such. My Golden didn't have any stool problems with the Iams, but he did have dry, flaky skin and a less-than-stellar coat.

You'll find that those sites don't rank Purina One very high, but many, many people here swear by it, so I'm convinced it's a better food than those rating sites say it is. I just thought I'd give the EVO a shot myself.
