Default5 month old puppy not eating

Hi! My wonderful 5 month old puppy Henry has decided to not eat his food. He is acting fine, running around, playing with our 9 year old lab, taking walks, drinking water, but he needs to almost be force fed to eat. This has been going on for 1 1/2 days now, any suggestions?

Maybe the food has gone bad? I'd try him on something else (another flavor of the same brand or boiled chicken/rice).

Check the expiration date on the bag of food. A dog can smell rancid food before a human can so you may not notice anything wrong with the food.

Trying another brand may give you an answer.

Are you adding water to the kibble to make a bit of gravy? I had a pup in a litter years ago that stopped eating too. The owner was not adding water as I had instructed. As soon as the water was added the pup started to eat again.

He might be teething and eating might hurt him. That plus his metabolism might have slowed down and he's not as hungry as he was. What are you feeding him and how much?

he could be hormonal too - depending on where in his 5th month he is too ...

What she said! Check his mouth. Does he have all his teeth? Or are some missing and/or some cutting through the gums? He's right about that age...Good luck!
