    Puppy's weight
Hey guys just a quick question. I asked about this months ago and I know everyone responded with the every dog is different response, but my black lab puppy is going to be 6 months old next week and he only weighs 32 pounds he is as healthy as can be but just really small, is this something I should be worried about. I have read all over and seen pictures of most labs being in the 50 pound range at 6 months. Anyone ever heard of a 32 pound lab at 6 months???

Is he a field lab or a bench lab? There is a very distinct difference in build and weight between the 2.
I'm sure he will gain more weight and grow just fine. He may be on the smaller side though. How much and what are you feeding him?
My Java weighed 34 lbs at 3 months, 62 lbs at 6 months. My Moka weighed maybe 47 lbs at 6 months.
All labs really are different, but 32 lbs does seem a little small at 6 months. Is he full lab? How big are his parents?
There are alot of things that come into play when looking at the size of a lab.

I have a 21 week old female that is roughly 25 pounds right now so I'm on the same boat. I weighed her last Saturday and she was 24.4 lbs. She is keeps growing constantly, but very slow. She could be just one of those that keeps growing though. Her dad was over 90 pounds (bench lab) and the mom was about 65 lbs. I'm not worried about it anymore. The smaller the better as they have a better chance at living longer and with less structural problems. I do hope she gets to at least 50 lbs though!

He doesn't look so small to me!! He looks happy and healthy!!
Enjoy him and try not to worry about his weight as long as he is healthy!!

When I took my female in to the vet at 6 months old they expressed concern about her size, said she was in the 5th percentile or something for that age. but then when they monitored her during spaying they said she had the best heart they'd monitored yet. The vet was really young and inexperienced but asked about lethargy, not eating etc. (not a problem!) She's a healthy 6 year old now. Full grown, she is 50 lbs. Just a runt!
I wouldn't worry about weight unless his ribs are showing prominently or he's got chronic diarhea or something.
