We had Chester neutered on Friday. He came home groggy but happy, and kept down the small amount of food and water we gave him. Yesterday he seemed perkier, but had very loose stools. He ate fine and was a bit rambunctious, but still subdued for Chester. This morning though he would not eat his food, and is rather lethargic. We took him back to the vet, he does not have a fever, the incision looks fine and he hasn't lost any weight. He is just not his usual self, and still will not eat.
We will take him back in tomorrow if he is still not eating.
I was wondering if any of you have similar incidents with your dogs. Chester is 5 months old.
Probably a reaction to the anesthetic. It can really throw some dogs systems out of whack. As long as he is staying hydrated and the incision looks ok - I would not be terribly worried.
Try him on boiled ground chicken and rice and maybe a little warmed up chicken broth. I bet he will eat that.
