    DefaultPuppy with red inter ear

My puppy has a little irritation in her ear lots of wax and a little smelly. I have worked with vets as a tech but it has been awhile can anyone recommend a good ear wash that I can use on her?

The brand I use is called VET Solutions and I got it right from my vet. She might have to be put on a topical antibiotic if she has an irritation. Sounds like there might be an infection. Just pour the solution into her ear and massage it with your hand. After your dog shakes it all out shove a cotton ball in and pull it out. Do this until there is no more crud on the cotton balls. See if that clears up her ear.

I also use VET Solutions as my labs tend to get yucky ears.

Malacetic Otic is also a good one. Or google "purple stuff." Be sure to get the wash up into the folds of the ear flap itself in addition to down in the ear canal. Hope your pups ears get better soon!

What are you feeding your pup? Wheat and corn can sometimes cause gunky ears. Try transitioning to a grain-free food and see if the problem clears up. It has worked for me with three Labs so far. We feed Taste of the Wild brand.
