DefaultHow Long Does it Take to Clear Up...

So I found Maggie 4 days ago in a box at a grocery store. I took her to the vet and she's relatively healthy - worms and underweight were her issues. She had some really bad diarrhea because of the worms and they gave me some Royal Canin Digestive Low Fat canned food to help with it, but after two days of her eating this stuff (barely, i practically have to force feed her) she is just as watery as ever.

Is there any other ideas you can sugest to help with her? Any advice would be appreciated - I just want my little Maggie to start feeling better...and not be so runny.

I assume she was tested for Parvo and Giardia?

If my pup had diarrhea I'd feed boiled ground chicken and rice until she firmed up. You want as bland a diet as possible.

    Hey,

yeah she is a real cutie. So yesterday at 1am when Maggie woke up and immediately ran to her bowl for some food I decided to scrap the Royal Canin food - the stuff the vet gave -- and just give her some of her puppy food, Purina Beneful. I added a bit of condensed milk to make the kibble a bit softer and wow - she went after the stuff...she ate 3/4's a cup in under 20 minutes. Amazing. And when she went to the bathroom.....well it wasn't hard, but it wasn't water, it was pretty soft. I was shocked. And this morning, roughly 6 hours later, she's eating again - another cup! Amazing...I am so relieved.

Eventually, look into something other than Beneful, it is not the most nutritious food around. Glad she is feeling better though!

I wouldn't add milk. You need to watch calcium intake for puppies. Just add tepid water. Agree about the Beneful. To be blunt, it's crap.

Hey, she's cute!! I agree with the others about the Beneful, it's pretty nasty food. If you're going to go with a grocery store brand, try Purina One. Make sure you switch the food gradually, or else she WILL get the runs!

    Totally agree re: beneful. Blech.

This is a good site to get an overview on dog foods:
