    DefaultWhat is this strange odor?

Lucy has a very strange odor sometimes that I think may be urine. As weird as this sounds, I can usually tell when she has to go to the bathroom because she starts smelling strange. She is 11 months old and is spayed. She has had a UTI before, when she was about 5 months old.

I really don't smell this often but when I do the odor usually goes away when she uses the bathroom. Last week I woke up and smelt the strange odor and I saw a tiny spot on my bed (she does sleep with me), which I'm assuming was urine. She has never had a problem using the bathroom in the house, except for when she was a puppy.

I'm wondering if it's a kidney stone or something. The odor is incredibly strong this morning and I am literally having to hold my nose just sitting by her. I took her outside about 30 minutes ago because I started smelling it, but the smell seems to be getting worse. Does anybody have this problem with their lab? Or know what it could possibly be?

I've not heard of that before, but I would definitely take in a urine sample soon and have it checked.

She might be having some incontinence going on.

    Could it be anal glands?

That was my thought. What color was the spot on the bed?

Anal glands? Really? I never would have thought that! I couldn't really see the spot, I had dark green sheets at the time, I could just see it was wet. Is it normal for her to have to have her anal glands drained at such a young age? I thought anal glands would smell like poop

Anal glands have their own unique smell....really unique.
