Default10 month labrador with a lump in his back

My labrador is a 10 month old and he developed a lump on his back the size of a baseball. took him to the vet and he made a cut in his back about 6" long to drain the fluids, after 2 weeks the lump is back and he reopen the wound, there was no major fluid inside but the muscle is enlarged, has anybody experienced anyhting like this? I hate to see my baby going to this again and the vet doesn't really know what is causing this, the lump is very hard but doesn't seem to hurt my dog is very playfull still and is eating well, but the wound looks terrible any coments or help will be very apprecciated thank you.

if your vet truly doesn't know what is going on you should be referred to a specialist or vet hospital ...

if there is no fluid there draining it is pointless
is your dog on any medications? (antibiotics for example)

are there tests your vet wants to run but can't for some reason?

sending away a little of the fluid or the lump might give you more information to work from.

I agree with seeing a specialist. Hoping it is nothing serious and you can get it healed completely.

Yes I agree, time for second opinion.
Mishka (RIP) deveoped a lump on her ribcage around 2 years old. My vet aspirated it to see if it was an abcess, it wasnt, so he said leave it see what happens, Hah! It got bigger, same routine, so went to another vet who immediately identified it as a cyst and removed it , by then a more complicated surgery as it was embedded between the ribs. She had no further problems.
