I just wrote a long post introducing cheka, our new addition and attaching some photos, it would nt take the photos then it told me Id already posted it.... which I clearly havent! Now Ive had enough its after midnight and bed calls so will have to retype our life story tomorrow!
Anyway, sorry havent been around much. Life has been full of Riley and her problems andn our new pup Cheka yf 8 months and gorgeous.
If you look reallly hard you can see her on the front path!
edited to say, Looking at that Picture of Riley i could cry. She looked great just a few short months ago... she had a course of pred. Now she is lame, and half bald and just looks so sad(until she sees a ball!)
The more people I meet the more I like my dog
I see Cheka sitting in front of your house. She is cute. I hope Riley feels better soon.
Aw congrats! Cheka looks like a fun pup! Sorry to hear about Riley..
Thanks, the best I can hope for with Riley some improvement, if I'm lucky and the latest trial is using Hills ultra ZD *whispering cos if my DH ever gets to hear how much that costs he will shoot one of us!* a cure isnt on the cards; I treasure each day as when she was diagnosed with LC over 4 years ago I didnt believe we would have her this long.
Cheka is the epitomy of all things Lab, we dont have a pair of matching shoes between us (actually not true they have matching teeth marks,!) my garden has been re landscaped,we share one tv control between 2 tvs, the pic of her in bed with Riley is partly cos she loves any excuse to be physically close to Riley or me, but mainly cos she shredded her own bed!
She of course loves water and loves helping me water the garden...picture the scene; we dont have automatic watering, life is simple here, you get the hose out. So I leave a hose watering one bush while I go round the otherside of the house to do the pots.... Cheka is a bit quiet but believe she is playing with Riley...the phone rings... I rush into the kitchen to answer the phone... the kitchen floor is an inch deep in water! First thought is OH no I have bust pipe and am looking around for it... then I see the little fountain in the middle of the floor and the hose pipe thats causing it! Cheka was all wiggly bum so pleased with herself; "Mum! look you forgot your water! I brought it back for you!" I had the cleanest floor. On summer evenings the house is wide open doors back and front... it cant have been easy for a little pup to drag a heavy hose full of water 300yards from the bottom of the garden, bless her! my sides hurt for hours with laughter.
She is also a classical music fan and has eaten the covers of half my DH rare vinyl collection!
Whereever I am she comes and lies on my feet, if I sit on a chair she climbs on me and it feels like she is trying to get inside my skin she wants to be so close! Her parents both came from the Czech republic, hence the name, her mum is much the same when it comes to love and cuddles.
I never intended to have another pup, well not now, my life is hectic in summer, we have a summer tourist business, so no time to share with a young pup, so even though I knew these pups were there I was restraining myself, also cos Riley's various treatments are killing me financially. However the owner of the parents knows my passion for labs and had promised me he would keep me a pup ( I hadnt taken him seriously!) came and told me to come and chose her... she was a gift, and is in more ways than one. I take full responsibility for most of the damage in summer, I couldnt be there enough to giver her proper socialisation keep her stimulated. :embarrass:The flying ears pic was her first swimming experience!
Riley has never interacted with another dog in her life but she became Cheka's nanny and mentor. She obviously is snob and was just waiting for a lab, not just any old mut to play with! Despite painful arthritis she plays biteface and tug of war with her. I have fallen in love again!
Now the other half of my jeckyll and hyde life has started, when I am home all day and can spend the time Checka needs to train her in house manners and give her the excercise and stimulation she needs. She is smart, Mishka RIP, was a real dumb blond, and Riley is clever too, but came to me already trained, so its fun teaching her.
So what I was trying to say last night before the post I spent ages writing disappeared, sorry I havent been around... I do keep an eye on you from time to time.. but I only have the winter months for playing on forums and last year was my daughter's year, preparing for university, she has gone to the Uk to study but it is not an easy feat to organise from another country all beit all within the EU! So hopefully now I will have more me time to see who is doing what to whom and how everyone and their furkids is doing. I cant believe the post I just read; Cappy is 10, he was just a pup when I first showed up here! Sheesh Doesnt tempest fugit?! :scare:
Edited to add the pics that has vanished again!!
