    DefaultSubmissive Urination?

Alfie has started this and I have no idea why

He came into the living room last night went and sat near DH who stroked him and he dribbled a bit. He also did it when I had a visitor the other day :embarrass:

    It could be pure excitement.

I know your supposed to ignore it and I have been doing, any other suggestions?

If it is something he hasn't done before, definitely have him checked out. A UTI doesn't mean he'd pee inside all the time, unless it gets really bad. Get him checked out now, and on meds if needed, before it progresses. If it's not a UTI, then it may be submissive or excitement peeing.

Yes, definitely check that out! I'm betting on that, since it started suddenly and he's never done it before.

When Simon first came to us, they said he was "working on" housebreaking. He would have accidents now and then, which we cracked up to housebreaking and/or excitement...it seemed to always happen when he and Angus were playing hard, or he was overstimulated in some way.

This went on for months...little accidents here and there. Never saw it happen, would find them later. We had our vet at the time check for UTI, found nothing, so we just assumed it was a behavioral thing.

Then one night in class, I SAW it happen. We were just standing around, no stimulation, very calm, listening to instructor talk about something, when suddenly he started walking around me and peeing. He didn't even really seem aware that he was doing it. The instructor has a dog who has ongoing urinary problems and pegged it as a UTI right away. I had him checked for a UTI again at our new vet. And it was.

Talk about feeling terrible. I had let this go on for about six months.

Anyway, a round of medicine and he hasn't had an accident since.
