Just as we were getting done feeding the horses I saw Toby had found "something". It was dark and hard to see. I thought maybe it was the kitty- it was black and furry. Forrest and I were just at the gate to go out when we saw it.
It was a skunk! I immediately closed the gate before Forrest could get out and called Toby. Now, Toby is a JRT and they have selective deafness when it comes to interesting things..... my heart sunk... but I called him.
HE CAME. IMMEDIATELY! So did Forrest, who was looking for a way out of the field. We left out through a different gate and neither attempted to go down where Mr Skunk was!
We got home and it was cookies all around!

He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his leader, his love. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion. Unknown
Way to go Toby and Forrest!
Even that smell was too much for a JRT

That's great! No stinky pups for you
Now there are two really good dogs. Congratulations to them.
Hershey Kisses, In charge of getting Ed out to the dog park so that he gets some exercise.
There are skunks (and deer, foxes, rabbits, coyotes, squirrels, etc.) in the nature preserve in which Puff and I walk every morning.
So I always have a bottle of Skunk-Off! at home and in the car:
Never had to use it and hope we never do.
Puff [YF, AKC field line (from competing HT/FT breeder) 62 lbs, dob: 8-'01]
Bess [BF, AKC bench line (from competing show breeder) 55 lbs., 1967-1981] "Poor Bess, the Wonder Dog":
What good boys, that was definately worth a cookie celebration~
