Yesterday while looking for the funny pics I saw pictures from Misha from a year ago and noticed how much pigment she has lost in her nose (it used to be very black) and now looks very discolored
Is this permanent or is there somehting that could be done to help her recoup her black nose?
Just a curious question for people that show their dogs, is this something that gets "punished" in the ring (i.e. a dog that used a black nose but looses pigment will be less competitive?)
this is from february
this one was taken yesterday
My dog Rocky was like that and his nose colour never changed back.
It will darken up in the summer again but never as dark as it was when she was younger. It will continue to fade as she ages.

Snow nose or a plain old faded nose is NOT a DQ in the show ring.
some judges don't understand snow noses and will fault it. I don't tend to show under those judges again.

Rhys' nose goes jet black every summer, just as black as when he was a puppy. Of all the yellows I have EVER seen, he has the best pigment.Originally Posted by Dani

And in the winter last year
Ruby's never gets real black, but she doesn't have a whole lot of pigment to go around.
Ginny's nose is exceptionally blackDitto.Originally Posted by labby
My mom's dog's nose was black until he was about a year old, then is began to fade. It never got the pigment back and continued to get pinker and pinker as he aged. He is now 13, and very loved :-*

Some people are like slinkies. Not really good for much, but bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.
The same thing happened to Shane, as a puppy his nose was black and after his first winter it's never returned to being as black as it was.

Sundance's nose has started its now-yearly fade for winter, too.SU threatens to color Sun's nose with a black Sharpie.is there somehting that could be done to help her recoup her black nose?

Interesting to see some dogs get the pigment back and some never. Rhys´ change is impressive and he has a beautiful black nose.
Let´s see what happens to Misha next spring, If she gets a black nose again it´s fine, and if she doesn´t it´s fine also, but as I see this tends to happen to pretty much all yellows
