Pitch is 2 1/2, and while brushing him out (something I should do more often), I noticed a patch by his shoulder that was white fur. I would say like a dozen or so, in the same area. Is this aging? Or is something else turning his black coat white.
Tucker had ONE lone gray hair between his shoulders as early as I can remember (maybe 6 months old)...now there are about 15 random gray hairs between his shoulders (he is now 7 years old) he also has a bunch of random gray pubes...LOL...sadly, his little muzzle is going gray
It's pretty common. The dog might have had a cut there or maybe just has a few stray white hairs. The graying usually starts on the chin and spreads from there.
My 3 year old chocolate has a grey muzzle, has grey on his chest, his neck, his tail, the back of his legs - he has a lot of grey. He's also diabetic and may be prematurely aging.
Agree with Laura on this. Age related greying usually starts at the chin and stray patches or silver hairs here and there are probably the result of mitey bitey playing injuries.
I think it's pretty common for them to have a few stray white hairs, Shannon. Baloo has some on his right temple, one on the base of his tail and one on either butt cheek.
I didn't know injury could cause some white hairs. That is really interesting to me and probably explains the 7 white hairs in two groupings on the side of HKs face.
