DefaultNot a good Reggie day today. Damn DM.

Not a good Reggie day today. Past couple of days, it's been hard for him to stand up from sitting position, so basically he becomes stuck. This morning he could not get up the 5 stairs from the yard. We had two attempts where I held him by his front collar (this usually works) but his back legs were just folding like a house of cards. I had to get a towel and towel walk him up. Then when he was in the house, he'd just walk around, then stop and stand. I think I heard a little wimpering. I think he knows when he lays down, he might not get up again, and it is causing him to become anxious. He's settled down now.

I have to tackle the steps issue as it has become serious now. I'm looking into some sort of ramp or for the meanwhile, letting him go out the gate on a lead, where there are no steps.

Oh this is heartbreaking. The towel as a harness was a good idea.
Hug that good boy for me, won't you?

Thanks Everyone. I appreciate the sentiment. I don't mean to be a downer but it does help talking to people who feel the same way I do.

Linda, those are some good ideas. I have been checking out ramps too and I like the sling carrier idea. Reggie's new vest should be coming shortly too. It has a back handle and should fit him nicely.

They have those sling thingy's you can put under him with handles to help you pull him up. I remember doing the towel trick on my first lab when he lost muscle mass. I know it breaks your heart. Good thoughts to you and Reggie!! (((hugs)))
