I'm still looking for answers on the boys' feet. I can't remember if I told you all, but I have a name of the fungus: Alternaria.
I won't bore you with every detail of what I now know about this fungus, but I just read something kind of interesting on the AVMA Web site:
Some dogs have been successfully treated for fungal infections using Lufeneron, the active ingredient in Program:
From Wikipedia: "...Lufenuron's antifungal property may be due to its inhibition of Chitin, which makes up roughly 33% of the typical fungal cell wall."
Well isn't that interesting!!
The AVMA study says all the dogs' lesions resolved in 21 days. We are at one month now, and Angus is still not looking like he's getting better.
I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with Program, any complaints, know of any reason why trying this would be a bad idea? TIA
My kids that go to the clinic with me are on Program. I haven't had any problems with it, nor have I EVER had any complaints of side effects from clients whose dogs have been on it. I sure hope that will clear up the fungal problems your guys have had. Keep us posted.
Update: Called vet. He hadn't heard of this, but seemed really interested and is going to check it out.
I *think* I may have stumbled upon a winner with this!
Good thoughts this will clear up the issue Connie !
Good luck I hope you find something that works.
