DefaultTrue Confessions of a Dog Owner or What's Really Important...

I was at a meeting with my boss and two other people today discussing a really interesting project when my cellphone rang. The caller ID showed a first name and I thought it was our QC Manager calling -- very unusual and it would mean it was important. I took the call and stepped out of the conference room. It was not the QC Manager, it was another work colleague (and really good friend). So here's how the conversation went...

    B: Jeanne, it's Bxxxx.
Me: What's wrong, is it an emergency? I just stepped out of a meeting with my boss.
B: Emergency, nooo. But I'm here at a dog show and they have the Red Barn Bullysticks that you were talking about.
Me: Er, really? Uh, <puts head in conference room, I'll be right in, I need to take this call.> Can you pick me up some?
B: Well they have the 7", the 7" braided, the 9" and the 9" braided.
Me: The 7", I'll pay you back.
    B: No problem, they're $22 for 10.
Me: Okay pick me up 10. No wait, make it 20.
    B: If you get 35, they're $72.
    Me: Okay let's do that.
    B: You got it!

Then I headed in back into my meeting.

So fess up folks, what has happened to you that you had to make a choice about what's important in life --Our Labs!

Milly woke me up this morning with her big sad eyes. I was getting ready for work and she did this little whine and then a big sigh. So I took the day off and we've been playing!!! She wanted me to stay and I usually ignore the sighs and whimpers when she knows I'm going out but today I thought "nah screw it.... it's gonna be play day!"

ahaha.... I'm so totally wrapped around her little paws....

LOL, I'm just glad you stepped out and didn't have to explain to anyone in your meeting what bullysticks were made from!

Yes, I know that song. I've danced to it a time or two myself.

I'd like to think it would have been a meeting ice-breaker.

Well so far nothing quite like that for me yet! SO far I have resisted the temptation to give in to Tal's sigh and that pitiful look he gives me when he knows I am getting ready in the AM to leave. I'm not sure who has trained who!

*raises hand* I usually cave the Lexi's pitty faces!

Now that I work from home, the most common occurence is her beaten dog look when I am getting ready to run an errand. I don't normally take her with me, but lately I find I let go with me even if she can't go inside with me. We are talking the bank, the local township offices, the tax collector's office, etc.

In fact the last time I went to the township offices I mentioned to the gal that my dog was in the car. She was like "You coulda brough her in with you!" I looked at her like she'd lost her mind. She said lots of people walk there & bring their pups in with them.

    My pretty girl, Lexi!

    Great timing for this question.

Boss: Important meeting scheduled for Thursday morning. I need you their.
Me: Ummm! not going to be there, Granddaughter being born in the morning and that takes priority.
Boss: Will you be in for the afternoon?
Me: Planning on it if everything goes well.
Boss: Will reschedule for Thursday afternoon. Give us a call if You won't be able to make it.

Ashley Pearl arrived around 10:00 a.m., perfectly healthy. About 11:30 got told that Grandparent should disappear and give parents the afternoon with the newborn.

Hmmm! Go to the office? It is going to hit 50F this afternoon. Hmmmm! Stop at house. Look at HK. Call office

Me: Hi! Boss! Not going to be ale to make it in this afternoon. Not sure about tomorrow either. Maybe need to reschedule for Monday.
Boss: Is everything okay? Is baby here and okay?
Me: Granddaughter is here and fine. A few things came up that I have to take care of.

Didn't tell him that HK and I were already in the car on the way to the dog park.

The things we do for our dogs.

A couple of years ago I was at an installation in Texas, when my husband called me. Jenica had gotten into the groceries while he was driving from the grocery shop home (she was on the back seat and the groceries behind the seat) and had eaten some bread. So he called me to make sure that it would not hurt her. My colleagues were highly entertained by that phone call.
