Here's a pic of Sam...I will take more once he is here. I'm kind of nervous about it...this is my first foster dog...and my first time having 2 dogs at once! Feel free to chime in with advice!
He's a cutie good luck!
Be prepared for lots of bitey face for the first few days after that it should calm down a little. Introduce them in a neutral area or take them for a walk together first if possible.
Have fun he looks like Cinnamon. Let the bitey face begin.
Awww, have fun, what a cutie!!!!
good for you ;D
let him be... let him establish how fast he wants to interact with you and yours... give him all the space he needs plus a little bit more
do not start "training" him the minute he walks in the door - or pushing him, or testing him, or grooming him or bathing him or clipping his nails or or or (I'm sure you get the gist!)
I cannot tell you the number of BONE STUPID tales I have about people rushing a new dog ( foster or forever) and having a real problem on their hands
have fun too and keep us posted
“I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.” H. Keller
the first thing I do with a new dog (dog sitting, foster...) is go for a walk. at least 20mins (more if I can).
Charlie (foster) and Rocky
Looks like a counter surfer to me. LOL
My thoughts too!!! Ha!!!Originally Posted by nellies mom
Well, here are some pics! Everything is going GREAT so far...way better than I expected. The dogs love each other and Sam (MYL foster) is about twice the size of Gauge but doesn't really seem to play rough. Actually, I learned that MY dog is the worse behaved dog of the two!!! Sam's profile said that his previous owner in Iowa wanted to shoot him...but the rescue lady talked her in to giving him up. At this point, I have absolutely no idea why she would want to do that...he seems like a really great dog.
Only thing I am having a hard time with is that I have to feed him Purina Dog Chow...came with him. :-X Guess it's better that he's still living and being fed this crap, rather than have a bullet in him and dead though...
Thanks for all the advice!
Wow! People suck! Sam looks like a happy guy! I think it's great that you took him in. He really tired Gauge right out.
