    DefaultCould He Be a Natural?

Bentley was outside briefly tonight with me without his big Sis. I threw a tennis ball... and said "FETCH"... off he ran, grabbed the tennis ball and brought it back to me. I said "drop it" as he was beside me and took it away.. he retrieved numerous times.

I was surprised as he is only 15 weeks. ;D

Definately sounds like a natural - better keep your arm warm as it will likely be throwing a lot of balls.

I'm convinced some are "born retrievers". Yours does sound like a natural.
Rocket came home to live with us when he was 7 weeks old. Within the first hour I had him, I threw a ball and he immediately went after it and brought it back to me. He's been retrieving ever since - it is his absolute favorite thing in this world to do.

    Enjoy it!

Dee retrieved in the house from being 8 weeks. We were thrilled because our last Lab wasn't terribly interested. However, the outdoors were a different story. : There she basically wanted to either 1) investigate everything, or 2) try and get us to play keep-away with whatever was handy (including the object she was supposed to retrieve). In recent months her retrieving instincts have come to the surface a bit more. She will retrieve an object numerous times and give it right to you. However it helps if have a treat on the ready, and she'll only do it until she gets bored....which is usually only a few throws. On the other hand we had a poodle who would retrieve forever if you let her keep going. Now she was a natural and would contantly be pushing something at you to throw. Same with my SIL's Lab; though not quite so much as our poodle. Maybe little Bentley will be a natural too. I was a bit disappointed that neither of my Labs have had a huge retrieving desire. BTW, Bentley is adorable.

Yup sounds like a natural to me.
Mocha was like that from the time I got her she was always bringing me her toys I would throw it and she would bring it back. Now getting her to drop it was a challenge sometimes but she always brought it back.
