    DefaultASPCA

I know that many of you are hunters along with being dog lovers. My husband is an avid hunter/shooter and therefore, strongly believes in gun owner's rights. I am thinking about joining the ASPCA, but out of respect for him, I'm trying to find out if this organization supports anti-hunting movements.
Would any of you happen to know?
    Thanks

I have no idea but I would not think they have any issues with hunters. I'd check their website and see what it says.

The A.S.P.C.A. according to the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance is #2 on their Top Ten Anti-Hunting Groups list. Second only to the HSUS. :-X Unfortunately I have found that most of these organizations start with the best of intentions and then become extreme in their actions and beliefs. Perhaps you could look at supporting a local rescue or no kill shelter? Just an idea.

Your husband is a very lucky man to have a wife like you. As a hunter and animal lover, I thank you for taking the time to research this and respect his beliefs.

Thank you SO much, that is exactly the type of information I was looking for. I had searched their website and couldn't find anything.

Your very welcome. It's not the type of information they want to promote, so it rarely shows up on their websites.

How about supporting Duck's Unlimited. ( http://www.ducks.org/ )They use funds to acquire and protect duck breeding and feeding grounds to maintain a healthy population. I joined just to get a good supply of return address stickers that usually feature Lab's. ;D

While DU certainly does its good for the thing that bothers me most is that they support puppy auctions at their events.

Actually, it's my understanding that they no longer support it. This is just through the grapevine and such, so I don't know for sure, but the last time I heard someone suggest their club have a puppy auction to raise funds, they were politely told DU looks down on it now ???

Oh really? They must not of made that a nationwide memo....because the chapters in Michigan continue to have puppy auctions.
