I have a 4 year old yellow Lab, Lido. He comes from a long line of champion dogs, bred by a very reputable breeder here in Michigan. Over the last 18 months, we have noticed a number of black hairs coming into his coat. They are mostly on his hind quarters, and a few on his front. My breeder says she has never heard of this, and has requested pictures.
Has anyone else ever seen this? I'm just curious. This is my first dog.
I could be a bit of mismarking maybe. One of the members here has article on her website about them.
My chocolate has little white hairs here and there but she's had them since she was little.
Emma has a few black hairs, not many, but it's quite common.

My yellow girl has a number of black hairs too.
I'd be interested in seeing pictures too.

I will post some pics soon. I'm new at this forum thing, and have no clue how to add pics. I am not very computer savvy. Any help would be appreciated.
Clarence has a little patch of black hairs pn the back of one of his front legs. You can't really see it unless you part the white fur on top of the patch. We always say it's a little piece of his fur mom and dad that he carries with him (they were both black).
I'll occasionally find a black hair on both of my yellows, but not a patch just stray ones here and there.
As for posting pics, you have to upload them to photobucket or shutterfly or some other picture host, then can post them here. I think there is a Help section of the forum where you could get better instructions.

Lula actually has a large mismarking on her right leg. We call it her chocolate stain. You can see it in the picture below just at the top of her front leg...We say the same about Lula's spot. Her mom was chocolate.Originally Posted by ClarenceMom
