DefaultA Mother's day walk...(lots of pics)

Well it's Mother's day here in the UK and given the choice of what i wanted to do, i chose to go for a nice walk in the countryside and stop off at a canal side pub for lunch and quick beverage!

We started of by cutting through the farmers fields via the public footpath, Jed went crazy with all the free space and butt tucked his way accross to the style on the other side. He got there 10 mins before the seniors so he lay down on it whilst waiting for them. (we call a wooden step over a fence a style~ not sure if it's the same where you are?)

    Butt tucking around the field.

    Waiting on the style

We then walked through another field and down a lane which is no longer open to traffic so was safe to be off leash.

We had to pass over another style and go through a 5 bar gate to make our way down to the canal tow path~ it is called the Tow path as in years gone by, the barges or boats used to be towed by horses.

Here's the boys waiting to pass over the style

The boys with daddy waiting to come through the gate.

We were nearly at the canal so we went back on leash as the seniors would have jumped straight in and although it's a lovely sunny day it's still a bit cold for swimming.

We passed over the lock which is used for helping the barges pass up or down hill and walked past the marina where there were lots of barges moored up. We saw ducks and even swans today. Jed was very interested especially in the swans but they were hissing at him and i was afraid they might peck him so i kept him at arms length.

Then we eventually got to the pub, called the cross keys, it was warm enough to sit outside with the boys and enjoy a bit of lunch.

And on our way home we were met by a huge squadron of ducks coming under the bridge.

I've had a lovely Mother's day so far!

You have just officially made me "home"sick for England...I lived in Histon village outside of Cambridge for 4 months a few years back and your walk looks so much like it! It's beautiful! And I love the picture of all three dogs waiting to pass over the style...very handsome! Happy Mother's Day!

    Happy Mother's Day, Kate!

It looks like you found the *perfect* way to spend the day. Love, love the pictures of Jed on the style. No way in heck could I get Piper to do that for me! lol

Hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

What beautiful lovely scenery. And how lucky are you to be able to stroll past all this whenever you want. And with three wonderful dogs by your side. Did they get to order at the restaurant too.

    Happy Mother's Day!
I really enjoyed your pictures and narrative. (I've never heard of a style nor seen one in the states.)
Looks like you and the dogs had a wonderful day.
