DefaultWhen we broke the news to them

"Ok guys, today was the last day of the hunting season ... nine more months before we can do it again."

Have you ever seen grown dawgs actually howl?

That's cute Cappy. I think yo need to look into artificial ducks/geese. Some kind of reote controlled flying thing that you can dress up to look like a duck. Fire blanks, and send the dogs out for them.

Really? Think that might work? Maybe we could use some of these for that purpose?

    Thanks for the suggestion. :-*

But you have to get them to fly so the dogs can mark them when they fall, don't you?

Jim! What a cool "photo" you have there - what's the story behind that?

I'm thinking you howled as well - 9 months with no hunting?! What will you do in the off season?!!!

That picture is just incredible! I'd like to know the story behind it too. Just let them know that tomorrow it will only be 8 months and 27 days. I'm sure that will make them feel a bit better.

We use a launchers system with dummies as shown below. It makes long distance retriever work possible and the job much easier for someone training alone without a helper.

Well ... the truth of the matter is that the photo was not from this just ended season, it was the year before. Carol had been having a very difficult time getting the two dawgs to pose together ... with both looking up and in the same direction at the same time. I told her to be ready to snap the shot and I thew one of their favorite training bumpers up ... perhaps a bit higher overhead than intended. :-[

The unusual image is part of the Kodak Easy Share software we use with the Z710 camera we have. It has "Fun Effects" in the edit mode that creates sort of a cartoon image like the one in my initial post.

Thanks to Linda (Raian) and Dani who inspired me to try (despite my old age) to learn some photo editing basics. So we bought and also use Photo Shop Elements that allows me to crop, remove imperfections and otherwise make simple manipulations of our pics.

To illustrate, here are before and afters of another pic I just did ...

Here I've used Photo Shop to remove the two training bumpers from the ATV's tailgate at the dawgs feet, and also to take out the house in the background by the right front windshield.

and finally I then used Easy Share "cartoon" visual effects on the modified image.
