HK is 13 months old. Shedding has not been an issue. Oh! She has shed some, but not enough to even mention. Tonight, DW had lighter colored slacks on and HK brushed up against her when she came home as usual. After dinner, DW looked at her slacks and told me to 'Look at this!' There was a lot of fur on her leg. I gave HK a long stoke and had a lot of fur in my hand. Whoopee! I get to use the Zoom Groom. Wow! I should have taken a picture, but didn't. Not as much as I get from Newman, son's dog, but 10 or 20 times more than I ever got off HK before. It didn't warm up that much. Could she just now be shedding a puppy coat?

I'd say she's blowing her winter coat. It's about the right time for it to start. All the horses are starting to blow. My dogs haven't really started yet but I look for them to start soon.

That is what I was thinking. Do you know if anyone has figured out if it is temp triggered, daylight hours triggered, something else?

I know that we have just come out of a 2-3 week sub zero period with significant windchills. Today it was about 20 with no wind and seemed spring like in comparison. It has been getting warmer for the past 2-3 days. 2-6 inches of new snow supposed to land overnight. I doubt this one will get to MI, but the folks in WI are going to get whatever is left of this Alberta Clipper.

No no no no no...... Baloo hasn't done that yet and I was hoping he lacked the "blowing coat" gene. *sigh*...... I suppose this means it could still happen. Arg. ;D

Sammi is blowing her coat like a mad man, or women ! I take it as a positive, maybe its an early sign of spring, what the heck does that old ground hog know anyway!!!

Ed, it can't be all temp related since it's still so cold out. It's prolly a combo of things which includes sunlight.

Please do not remind me that spring blow is around the corner. No. No. No. <Fingers in my ears>

The two of mine are blowing big time and we are having some of the coldest weather of the year here in Ohio. I did recently read that one indicator for plants and animals alike that the trigger for the spring ramp up is the beginning of 10 hours days. We hit that the 1st week of Feb.

I know they sense the longer days as they are getting me up early every day due to the earlier sunrise.
