Thank you JL!!!
Dan picked her up from the hospital saturday while I was at work. She was still pretty doped up and confused. :-\ But, she had a good sleep, and ate with a little encouragement.
Now, she's eating on her own! Her appetite isn't back to 100% yet, but we're getting there. She's bright and alert and pretty much back to her old self again.
So, THANK YOU for the warm wishes and good thoughts/prayers.
Here are a few pics of her this morning:
I was worried for a little while there that I would never get the pleasure of watching her play again....
"Ewwie... I smell like hospital... must get clean!"
Thank you all again. :-* :-* :-*
Awww..I'm so glad she's home I hope she continues to recover and improve. Did they say what it was for sure?
*sigh*.... no. :-\Originally Posted by bacatherine
Her stomach was very dilated and full of fluid on thursday, but went down significantly friday. so... ???
I'm going to take her back to my vet for a recheck tomorrow, and get a blood test done to check for pancreatitis. If it wasn't that, then it was most definitely either salmonella or clostridium poisoning, most likely as a result of me switching her to a raw diet. :-[
Needless to say, no more raw feeding in this house. olice:
Glad she's feeling better, it is so scary when they are sick.
Once they are okay though, it makes you appreciate all the little things again.
I hope you find out what it was.
i'm glad she's doing better!
So glad to hear that she is doing better - she's a cutie (even if she's not a lab).
Hope the progress keeps up!! Thanks for the update.
That's great news Kate!! she's such a stunning looking cat too!
Me, Abzilla and the Helomonster.
So glad to hear a happy update on Kiwi Kitty. She should become an Honorary JL Mascott! I agree, she is a beautiful baby!
She looks good. And I love those markings - I have never seen markings on a cat like that before. Very unique!
I didn't realise you were feeding her raw. Did the vet say that the raw was probably how she (assuming she did...?) contracted salmonella?
Yuppers. :-[Originally Posted by Trickster
However, she was also on a medication that (as a side effect) suppressed her immune system. So it wasn't so much the raw diet as it was a bad combo of the two. If that's what she got, anyways. :-\
